New trailer for Joy casts Jennifer Lawrence as a mop inventor

Not content with earning Oscar nods for practically every one of their collaborations, Jennifer Lawrence and director David O. Russell have teamed up once again to bring us Joy. The movie tells the rags-to-riches tale of gadget creator Joy Mangano, whose inventions transformed her from a regular housewife to a QVC sensation overnight.

A new full-length trailer for the biopic has arrived online, delving into her story, moreso than the earlier teaser, and shining a light on what could be another Oscar-nominated turn by Lawrence as the beleaguered businesswoman. It's hard to believe the actress is only 25 by the breadth of skills showcased in this compelling trailer.

They should just give her the statuette now.

Many of Russell's other regulars appear in supporting roles, with Silver Linings Playbook co-stars Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper on board, alongside Isabella Rossellini, Virginia Madsen and Diane Ladd. Joy opens in the US on December 25, followed by a UK release on January 1, 2016.
