Beyonc Knowles drops out of Clint Eastwoods A Star Is Born

Beyoncé Knowles has left Clint Eastwood’s remake of A Star Is Born because of her filled schedule, according to Variety .

The absence of a set start date also made it difficult to organize the artist’s schedule.

The film’s production, previously delayed by Beyoncé’s pregnancy, is now taking another hit with her departure and the ongoing lack of a male lead.

Knowles’ part should have been the bright young performer who falls in love with an older, washed-up musician. Eastwood seems now interested in jazz musician Esperanza Spaulding as female lead, but no choice will be made before a male protagonist is found, Variety reports.

A series of well-known male actors have been attached to the film as the fading star. The list includes Tom Cruise , Leonardo DiCaprio , Christian Bale , Johnny Depp and Bradley Cooper, although none of them ever officially signed on.

But without a set start date and lead actors, the film is still a work in progress that we’ll be unlikely to see anytime soon.

Previous remakes of A Star Is Born include 1954’s version starring Judy Garland and James Mason and 1976’s adaptation with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson as the singer and mentor.
