Timur Bekmambetov goes viral

Timur Bekmambetov is a sneaky bloke. While other directors are pumping out blogs and behind-the-scenes featurettes, he’s managing to do all that while also pranking the Internet.

Those of you who stroll the cyber-hallways may have seen a fast-spreading viral video that purported to show a placid Russian office suddenly get very violent as one of its workers decided to wreck the place. The footage was captured on security camera and quickly made it around the world, while some news organisations also picked up on it.

Turns out it was just a bit of fun created by Bekmambetov to help promote Wanted, his new summer blockbuster. IESB.net has the footage and the story behind it . We’d point you to Bekmembetov’s blog, but it’s all in Cyrillic and we can’t tell you what he’s saying.
