Disney's well-oiled marketing machine strikes again - the final Star Wars playset for Disney Infinity 3.0, The Force Awakens, will be released on December 18th, the same day as the movie we're all clamoring for. Few details have been revealed about the plot of the Force Awakens expansion, for obvious reasons, but we do know what figures will be available as part of the set, all of which made a proper public appearance at this year's PlayStation Experience.
As with the other Star Wars playsets for Disney Infinity - Twilight of the Republic and Rise Against the Empire - The Force Awakens contains two figures and a playset piece, which gives you access to the pack's main story. The two figures for the starter pack are the film's leads, Ray and Finn (aka the scavenger with a lethal-looking metal staff and the stormtrooper who would be a Jedi), and the playset piece keeps its contents vague, formed in the shape of a stormtrooper helmet and a shield with an unfamiliar brand.
In addition to our main pair, there will be two more Force Awakens figures available at launch that can be purchased separately: Poe Dameron, a dedicated Resistance pilot working under General Leia Organa, and total Darth Vader fanboy Kylo Ren. Sadly there's been no mention of a BB-8 figure yet, and though Han Solo and Chewbacca appear in the Disney Infinity Force Awakens trailer, there's no word on whether their figures will work with the Force Awakens storyline.
