MGM planning Tomb Raider reboot

With Lara Croft receiving a new lease of life thanks to the resurrection of the videogame franchise, MGM are looking to do the same for her big screen career by backing a new Tomb Raider movie.

The rebooted Tomb Raider game is currently garnering rave reviews and selling by the truckload, a turn of events which has convinced the studio that a movie version is worth another go.

Game developer Crystal Dynamics had already been working with GK films on a new movie project, and now Heat Vision is reporting that MGM is partnering with the smaller studio to get things up and running.

Development is being headed up by GK founder Graham King, with no director in place at this stage. No word as yet on casting either, although we’d expect Angelina Jolie to be subbed out for a younger actress, as the new game features a much younger incarnation of the character.

Cue a flood of excitable fanboy suggestions for nubile high-kicking actresses to fill those famous hotpants…
