Justin Theroux on board with The Girl On The Train

Dreamworks' adaptation of The Girl On The Train is already brimming with A-list talent, and now THR reports that The Leftovers star Justin Theroux is on the brink of nailing down another leading role. The part in question was originally cast with Chris Evans, who has since stepped away from the movie due to scheduling conflicts.

The movie is set to follow the plot of Paula Hawkins' bestselling novel that revolves around a recently divorced woman, played by Emily Blunt. On her daily commute she becomes obsessed with a couple she spies from the train. When she thinks she's witnessed a murder, matters take a bizarre turn for the worse. And, of course, it doesn't help that her ex-husband and his new wife live in that same neighborhood.

Theroux will play her ex-husband Tom alongside Mission: Impossible's Rebecca Ferguson, who's set to play his wife. Jared Leto and Haley Bennett will play the married couple who become involved in Rachel's meddling scheme.

The novel attracted many comparisons to Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl, and if the starry lineup for the adaptation is any indication, we could be in for another high-calibre domestic thriller next year.
