Skins star nabs Wuthering Heights lead

You can tell Kaya Scoledario is cool and down with it (ahem) because she revealed that she has been cast in the new Wuthering Heights film on Twitter.

The young Skins star, who also had a fleeting appearance in last year’s Moon , Tweeted:

“im gonna be in the new Wuthering Heights film! as cathy! should probs read the book… start filming next month, cant wait!”

Previously in the adventures of the Wuthering Heights adap, Andrea Fish Tank Arnold signed on to direct the new adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel after original director John Maybury departed.

A number of stars have been linked to the project, with Natalie Portman and Gemma Arterton both up for the role of Cathy, while Gossip Girl ’s Ed Westwick and Michael Fassbender were being courted for the male lead.

But when Arnold came aboard this new adap, she swept out the old and set about her own casting. And it looks like she’s going for young actors, in line with Brontë’s original text.

The role of Cathy's beau, Heathcliff, has yet to be cast, though a call has been sent out for a 16-24-year-old who is “genuine Romany Gyspy/South Asian/Mediterranean/Indian/mixed race” in appearance.

We can’t imagine they’re looking for all of those qualities in one just actor. Oh, and ideally he’ll be from Yorkshire, apparently. Don't ask for much, do they?

Who do you fancy for Heathcliff?
