PlayStation 4.5? Pah. We all know where the real fun lies. Sony crafted ghost catching devices. Sony has officially announced a Proton Pack to coincidentally arrive on the release date of Ghostbusters on July 15. What an innovative new product for the first day of the fourth month. Yes, I'm staring at you very hard.

Complete with a 'state-of-the-art, miniaturised superconducting synchotron' and a 'hydrogen plasma cell,' the Proton pack is cooled by a liquid helium reservoir and an 'active cryocooler.' It's been in development at Sony for more than 30 years and while weighing in at 6.66kg, it uses the same tech as Sony's smartphones and even has an embedded Sony 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector to 'view captured matter in real time.'

“The perfection of the Proton Pack™, long a dream of the world’s greatest engineers since first pioneered by Dr. Egon Spengler of Columbia University, is an example of Sony’s relentless pursuit of innovation," says Sony's Kaz Hirau. "It absolutely delivers the wow factor that is so important to our company mission.” Take a look at some more images in the gallery above or you can read everything you need to know about the new Ghostbusters.
