There are loads of combination offers on this Ryzen CPU

The Ryzen 5 9600X is discounted from $279 to $219 at Newegg, but that's really just the tip of the iceberg. Newegg's combination deals are what's doing it for me this anti-Prime Day. We all know that PC building is pretty dire at the moment because of high component costs (blame AI, it sucks). But motherboard bundles that get you a lumped in CPU and RAM, or an SSD, are going to be really good value at the moment.

Along with the Ryzen 5 9600X, I'm seeing eight different motherboard combinations to choose from, so builders have loads of ways to save.

Speaking of PC building, this motherboard makes it easy

I've covered it a few times now, but I helped my friend build his first gaming PC, and this was the motherboard he had chosen. It made the building process very easy thanks to some tool-less QOL benefits like an easily removable SSD heatsink, a GPU release catch positioned intelligently, and clearly indicated error LEDs.

Besides that, it blends great connectivity with really good gaming features.

This is one of the fastest SSDs there is, so its price could actually be a lot worse

The Samsung 9100 Pro is the brand's beefed-up Gen 5 SSD, which has double the speeds of its popular 990 Pro gaming drives. I've tested it, it's one of the drives I use on the daily because it genuinely is that good, and I'd go so far as to say it's one of the best SSDs ever made.

A whole other conversation is whether or not you'll find uses for that sort of speed, because Gen 5 drives still aren't really necessary for gaming. Their speeds are impressive, and if you're moving files around constantly, you'll thank yourself, but they probably won't improve your loading times that much compared to Gen 4 NVMe options.

But still, for such a strong storage drive, the 9100's price could be a lot worse right now. Newegg is offering a quoted $330 saving on it, so that's something to celebrate in today's climate.

Is it worth buying a DDR4 PC right now?

Personally, I'd argue against it. I know that with prices being as high as they are, it can be tempted to buy a desktop with a modern GPU and DDR4 memory and an older CPU. I get it.

But I think the key thing when buying any PC component or system is futureproofing, and if you can save a few hundred more and buy a similar system with an upgraded motherboard that will allow you to get full use out of the modern specs of your rig, I think that's the way to go.

If you do opt for a DDR4 system, it's going to be a case of paying more than the difference you would spend on a DDR5 machine in a couple of years to get something properly futureproofed anyway.

Component prices can often be better at Amazon, but this RTX 5070 is a solid Newegg deal

As much as I'm stanning Newegg in this blog, I'm also not going to lie to you. Often, the best component deals do tend to lie at Amazon's door during seasonal sales, while prebuilt desktops and motherboard bundles are better at Newegg.

That isn't the case with this edition of the RTX 5070, however, which is over $600 at Amazon right now and isn't seeing much of a discount. At Newegg, you can get it with a $67 saving.

Fancy a 240Hz 2K OLED monitor? Good news, you don't have to sell a kidney to afford it

It's been the case for a while that OLED tech just costs more, and we've had to accept it. It does slowly feel like that's starting to turn however, and particularly with monitors this anti-Prime Day, things are getting more affordable. We've spotted a few OLED monitor deals across the retailers this week, but here's another one that has a good refresh rate for the money.

It's an Asus ROG Strix OLED with a QHD (1440p) panel, a 240Hz refresh rate, and it's 26.5 inches. It's currently wearing a saving of $150.

PSA: It looks like a PlayStation Store voucher deal is coming soon which could help with a GTA 6 pre-order

We've seen gift cards for Xbox and Switch in Newegg's Fantastech sale, but from a quick scroll through the upcoming deals that are to be released next, it looks as though there's a $250 PlayStation voucher that'll go live in the next drop. It doesn't say how much you'll need to pay for this, and it'll almost certainly be more than the cost of GTA 6 Ultimate Edition ($99.99 / £89.99), but I thought I should let you know just in case it helps you out with funds for a GTA 6 pre-order.

Still on that Steam Machine buzz? This case could help you build your own

The Steam Machine is finally available, but personally, I think you could get better value by going for a smaller traditional desktop PC instead. Whether that means buying a prebuilt mATX system or building your own mini-ITX PC is up to you to decide. All I know is, there are plenty of very charming-looking SFF cases out there that could provide just as much charm as the Steam Machine while cramming in loads more graphical power.

Take this lovely little Jade-colored ITX case from Fractal, for example. As cases go, it's a bit pricey, but it even has a similar design language to Valve's console/PC hybrid.

Speaking of Fractal Design, do you need a new place to sit?

Both of the fabric colorways of the Fractal Refine (which was a long-standing best overall pick on our gaming chair list) are currently seeing discounts at Newegg, which is more than I can say for Amazon. Even the Alcantara version is seemingly in good stock and discounted here, and it can be particularly tricky to find elsewhere.

Meta Quest 3S discounts were short-lived, but you can still get them at Amazon without a Prime membership

We did see a Quest 3S discount at Newegg yesterday, but it didn't last too long. Elsewhere on the site, VR headsets aren't having much luck with discounts, but Quest 3S bargains still exist at Amazon, which I suppose is a plus.

The good news is that you don't need a Prime membership to make the most of them, so I guess I'll allow it. The retail pages do say "Limited Time Deal" on them though, so I wouldn't wait around. If you really don't want to give Amazon your money, the offer also exists at Best Buy.

This iBUYPOWER deal is still going strong

This iBUYPOWER deal I spotted earlier in the week is pretty good value in the grand scheme of the RAMpocalypse. It's got a 16GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti in it, as well as a top-drawer processor. Perhaps most crucially at the moment, it's got 32GB of DDR5 in it.

Yeyian gaming PCs have been a mainstay of Newegg's discount shelves for the last few years of seasonal sales, but I haven't heard much noise from this brand so far this year (probably for obvious reasons). I had to scroll pretty far to find it, but this prebuild has an RTX 5060 inside it, DDR5 RAM, and a 14th-gen Intel chip for under $1,000. Those are hard to come by these days.

HYTE's colorful cases are on offer

HYTE is known for its colorful range of PC cases that really let you filter down into an aesthetic you want. Its latest budget-friendly case, the Y50 (photographed above), isn't available at Newegg yet, but the Y70 with a touch display on its diagonal panel, and the X50 with lots of different colorways, are all seeing discounts.

Corsair's MMO mouse is on offer

As an MMO silly mouse enjoyer, I appreciate that Corsair has its own version of one. Newegg has it discounted to $49.99, which is down from a $89.99 full price. At Amazon, it is a couple of dollars cheaper, but you would need a Prime membership for it.

A little while ago, I talked about how the Quest 3S deals aren't really the same at Newegg compared with Amazon, but if you're looking for the beefier Quest 3 512GB, you can get a $50 gift card for your trouble?

Lenovo LOQ builds look great, and this one is at a reasonable price

I don't see a lot of Lenovo LOQ builds at Newegg, but they come in a very pretty chassis.

This one isn't getting a massive discount at Newegg, but it's another one to opt for if you're looking for as futureproofed a build as possible in these trying times. The only catch? Its processor is a laptop one, which might make upgrading a bit more tricky. Still, I'd rather have that than a DDR4 system.

We've shouted it out a few times now, but there's a good reason for that

The Fractal Scape is one of the best gaming headsets I've ever used, and it's one that I've kept firmly in my everyday gaming rotation ever since testing it out. It's seeing the same discount at Newegg as it is at Amazon, so if you're looking for a premium headset with a really great mix of features and compatibility, consider it.

My AIO cooler is on sale as NZXT refuses to pick favorites

It took a day or two for NZXT to bring the goods this Prime Day, but if you're looking for ways to upgrade your gaming PC that don't involve spending $700 on RAM, a motherboard, and a new CPU, a new cooler might be the answer.

NZXT's Kraken Plus comes in black and white, with and without RGB, and with two and three fan variants. It simplifies cable management into one simple breakout that makes installation a lot easier than previous generations of NZXT coolers, and it'll keep even the angriest Raptor Lake CPUs under control (I've tested this). It also has what a lot of PC gamers are craving these days, a wee display on the pump head for you to adorn with GIFs, pictures, performance stats, or whatever else tickles your fancy.

It's price-matched at Amazon and Newegg right now, so you can have confidence you're grabbing a good deal here even without a Prime membership.

Here's one to avoid

Okay, fine, I'll admit a small defeat. I did say earlier that component deals are often better at Amazon, and that's the case here.

Intel's Core Ultra 7 270K Plus CPU is seeing a Prime Day deal (for members, ugh), down to $264, which is a genuine discount from that chip's MSRP of $299. Keep in mind it only launched this year, so that's a darn good deal.

At Newegg, I'd go so far as to say it's seeing a phony deal. It's "discounted" and is still above MSRP; even with a promo code taking $5 off, you're still not actually getting a bargain.

That Xbox voucher deal has vanished, but Switch players can still make the most

Yesterday, there was an offer for Xbox store credit that meant if you spent $83, you could get $100 in pure Xbox digital game money. Today, a very similar offer exists for the Switch eShop, and it looks as though a PlayStation Store voucher is on its way for tomorrow's deal drop.

An extra discount on this Corsair CPU cooler

The Nautilus 360 RS Liquid Cooler we reported earlier in Newegg's sale? It's just dropped its price even further. The $109.99 direct-to-board cooler took a solid $20 discount at the top of the week, but has just skipped down to $75.99. That's a full $34 off now.

RIP that MSI Vector discount

The RTX 5070 Ti MSI Vector that was previously going for $1,699 in Newegg's anti-Prime Day deals has just jumped back up the price scale. It's up by $40, to $1,730.81, without a discount notification. This one could be on its way out the stock room then. It's certainly not bad value with that little extra on the final sticker, but you're not getting the sale's best price here.

Pricing update! Another $20 off this 34-inch LG OLED monitor

I've just swept through some of my favorite Newegg discounts and come across an additional saving on this LG UltraGear panel. The QHD OLED is now available for $679, having previously popped up in Newegg's FantasTech sale for $699. That was already generous given the $1,199.99 MSRP - even if this one doesn't tend to stick at full price for very long anyway.

Some deals are sticking around, thankfully

While there are plenty of deals that are going as fast as they're coming, it's worth highlighting that some of the deals found on Newegg have continued to stick around for the past couple of days. Take, for instance, this Thermaltake LCGS build for $400 off.

The components aren't going to blow you away – RTX 5070 with a 1TB SSD, Intel Core i5-14400F processor, and 16GB DDR5 – but given how fast computer components are rising in price, it's a solid deal.

Your mileage may vary on RAM

While my general attitude with any of these major retailer sales is, "don't buy it if it doesn't wow you," computer parts are perhaps the exception to the rule. With all signs pointing to RAM and storage becoming even more expensive for the foreseeable future, it's hard to argue against a deal like this for 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM when there's every change it's twice as expensive within two years.

A friendly reminder about all deals

While on the subject of deals you want and deals you don't, a friendly reminder from your neighborhood deals hunter that not all deals are created equally. Just because something is marked down at a retailer, that doesn't mean it's actually lower than the standard price.

Similarly, it's really best to price compare across multiple different retailers for anything third party. While there are likely to be brands specific to each retailer, there are plenty that will be available in most places – and it's simple enough to check which has the best price.

Need a monitor?

If you're in the market for a new computer monitor, I frankly think it has more to do with what your setup looks like/what can fit on your desk than anything I have to say. That said, it's worth giving this ASUS 27-inch QHD monitor a look as it's the cheapest I've seen it lately on Newegg and has decent reviews.

Maybe don't buy a game console from Newegg

While I'm mostly focused on what deals are actually useful or meaningful at Newegg, it's just as helpful to point out any that you should avoid. In that vein, it's worth noting I've not seen one even remotely good deal on a modern games console at Newegg this week.

Everything from the Nintendo Switch 2 to the PS5 Pro has had better options elsewhere, Amazon included. If you're still in the market for one before prices inevitably rise even further, you're better off with other retailers.

Maybe do buy computer parts from Newegg

On the other hand, if you're somehow not already aware, Newegg is historically known as a source of computer parts and accessories and, well, everything you could really need to get a PC up and running.

There's a reason that the deals I've been highlighting thus far have been bits and pieces for a decent PC setup; it's what Newegg is known for and best at for a reason, in my opinion. It's good to shop around, but Newegg is typically competitive in that realm.

An LG OLED never hurts

Newegg also can have decent deals on TVs. Take, for example, this 55-inch LG OLED C5. This particular deal has been on our radar already, but it's worth acknowledging that it's 1) quite good and 2) still available currently. Not for nothing, it also comes with a free disco ball gift... for some reason.

This Stormcraft Sirius PC is still a good deal at $200 off, especially if you're on a budget, but there's a fairly big "but" attached in the form of DDR4 RAM. With DDR5 being the current standard, this is something of a step down, but there's plenty of other reasons to like this particular build if you're on the hunt.

A few extra bucks off this Gigabyte monitor

While some Newegg anti-Prime Day deals are being run off the shelves, Gigabyte's 27-inch QHD monitor has taken an extra discount in the final few days of the sale. Previously at $159.99 for most of the week, you'll now find the 27-inch panel for $151.99, that's $128 off the $279.99 launch price. Not too shabby for a KVM switching display with a 200Hz refresh rate.

One of my top component bundles has sold out

Newegg was previously offering a Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite motherboard, Ryzen 5 9600X processor and Samsung 990 Pro 1TB SSD for $429.99 as part of its FantasTech sale, but that's now been stripped off the shelves. It's a pity - you're normally covering more than half that price with the rate of the SSD by itself on a regular day, but things are starting to move a little faster now.

An extra $30 off this MSI panel

That super speedy 360Hz MSI display has taken an extra discount at Newegg today, taking us under $500 for the first time in the sale. The MSI MPG 271QRX was previously up for $529.99, but those savings have clocked up to $148.40 in total now. That's a sturdy price for a high-speed OLED panel.

And another extra saving!

This time on one of the few gaming laptops under $1,000 this Prime Day. The Acer Nitro V15 is now sitting pretty at $899.99 (it was previously only down to $949.99). That means it's now well into the three-figure price range - and that's not something I can say too often about an RTX 50-Series device.

This is still an entry level unit, but with 16GB RAM and a 165Hz display it's one of the better value options for those playing light this year.

Oh, you thought we were done with additional savings?

The Gigabyte A16 Pro is also seeing a few extra bucks off the sales price I've been seeing over the last week. This one's a good step up the price ladder, but if you've been eyeing up the RTX 5080, it's well worth jumping on. I was excited when this rig dropped to about $2500 earlier in the week (it's rare to find such a GPU at this price these days), but now it's sailed down to $2,369. That's the best RTX 5080 gaming laptop deal I've seen this Prime Day so far.

Save $224 on an RTX 5060 Ti gaming PC

This is one I haven't spotted until now, but you're getting a sturdy $1,275 price tag on this AVGPC Hellfire prebuilt at Newegg right now. It's a budget-friendly mid-ranger with the full 16GB RTX 5060 Ti card giving you a little more headroom for more demanding titles. That's balanced with only 16GB RAM, though it is DDR5 at least.

Only buy this GPU if you absolutely need an RTX 5070 Ti this Prime Day

Newegg has the web's best price on the MSI Ventus RTX 5070 Ti GPU, but even with that account-holder's discount applied we're still $150 above MSRP. That's a given for GPUs these days, but it's still not the caliber of Prime Day GPU deals I would have hoped for even this time last year. At $899.99 we're $80 off Newegg's $979.99 listing price, while other retailers will still have you over that $900 boundary.

A solid OLED monitor for $379.99

The Acer Predator X27U is $170 off its original listing price in Newegg's anti-Prime Day deals this weekend. That drops us off at a commendable $379.99 price point, considering its 280Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time and QHD resolution.

Cheap SSDs are still hard to come by

Component shortages have caused SSD prices to skyrocket this year so far, so it's impossible to find sticks for the kinds of rates we would have seen in 2025. Truly 'cheap' SSDs are a myth these days, so we're stuck finding the lowest rates that are actually around.

Patriot is making a good bid with this slightly slower 1TB P410 model this Prime Day. It's only $10 off a $159.99 listing price, but that means you're on $149.99 for this one.

If you need a replacement ASAP, this is a solid contender.

PSA: This PS5 Pro 'deal' is not a deal

Newegg's listed the PS5 Pro for its usual (though now higher than launch) $899.99 MSRP, but with a FantasTech sale badge attached and a strange $1,092.99 'previous' price. That's just not true at all. Don't fall for this fake deal, this is the usual selling price of the PS5 Pro.

Ok, Amazon wins for this gaming mouse

The Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX is one of my all-time favorite gaming mice, combining that speedy sensor and those crisp clicks of the Superlight series with the extra benefit of a far more comfortable chassis shape. The extra curve in the left flank makes for a much-needed ergonomic grip, compared to the pill-shape of the rest of the line up.

That's why this is one I check every time Prime Day rolls around and, while Newegg was matching Amazon for prices earlier in the week, Bezos has just nipped into the lead.

The DEX is down to $119.98 at Newegg, but you'll find it for a few more bucks off at Amazon - a brand new record-low of $113.98.

The whole Hatsune Miku Collection is on sale

Asus has a whole roster of Hatsune Miku gaming gadgets, and they're all on sale in Newegg's FantasTech sale. The brand's mouse, keyboard, and headset are all getting involved here, with prices ranging from $84.99 to $92.99. Each item is available by itself, but there are also bundle offers saving additional cash when you paint your whole setup turquoise.

This refurbished Lenovo Legion 5 is looking pretty solid right now

The Lenovo Legion 5 Gen 10 is one of the best gaming laptops for sheer value, but these OLED-toting machines are difficult to find now that the more expensive Gen 11 is on the shelves. Newegg has a solution here, offering an RTX 5070 refurbished configuration for about the price I used to see RTX 5060 models at last year. Anyone on the hunt for a gaming monitor should be considering this MSI MAG dual-screened monster. That's a feature set that usually comes on premium panels, but the already well-priced $279.99 display is even cheaper right now.
