Martin Freeman spills details on his Civil War character

Martin Freeman is one of a number of new additions to the MCU, with the Sherlock star set to appear in Captain America: Civil War. And while his character remains unidentified, Freeman has shared a few tidbits of info with Bad Taste that should give us some idea of what we can expect…

"He works for the American government," says Freeman. "He works in conjunction with the superheroes, and certain agencies that help to tame the superheroes’ power, I suppose. So you’re not quite sure which side he’s on. It looks a little bit like he’s playing one game when actually he’s playing another."

"It’s the kind of character I like because it’s ambiguous and because you don’t know whether he’s good or bad. I like that area that isn’t black or white, I like the grays, because I think there’s just more fun to be had in not playing one obvious line."

It has been suggested that Freeman may be playing Henry Peter Gyrich, the Avengers' U.S. government liaison, although that has yet to be officially confirmed. We'll find out for sure when the film opens in the UK on 29 April 2016 and the US on 6 May 2016.
