Kenneth Branagh to direct Murder On The Orient Express

Fox is planning a new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic whodunit, Murder On The Orient Express, with The Wrap reporting that Kenneth Branagh is currently in negotiations with the studio to direct the project.

For those unfamiliar with the book, the story follows regular Christie protagonist Hercules Poirot as he attempts to solve the murder of an American passenger aboard the titular locomotive. Green Lantern screenwriter Michael Green is currently hard at work adapting the script.

The novel has been adapted for the screen many times before, including Sidney Lumet’s 1974 feature film which saw Albert Finney take the role of Poirot. Ridley Scott and Simon Kinberg are both signed up to produce the film, as is Mark Gordon. No release date has been confirmed as yet.
