The first image has arrived online from Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak (courtesy of The Film Stage (opens in new tab)) and it’s an absolute beauty, featuring Jessica Chastain in what looks to be an extremely haunted house.
Sporting a trailing blue ballgown, Chastain stands amid a pleasingly gothic backdrop, as Del Toro turns his hand to fairytale horror for the first time since Pan’s Labyrinth.
According to the official synopsis, the house in which the film is set “breathes, bleeds…and remembers,” with Mia Wasikowska’s aspiring author pitching up there in the middle of a personal crisis.
The synopsis tells us she’s “trying to escape the ghosts of her past,” but from the looks of this latest image, it seems as though she might have better luck elsewhere…
Co-starring Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Burn Gorman, Crimson Peak will open in the UK and US on 16 October 2015.
