Tweets Of The Week

A Whedon-tastic party and an ’80s extravaganza in this week’s tweets

Last week we talked about how Twitter is the perfect realm for breaking news to the masses after most (including many of the cast and crew) heard of SGU ’s premature demise in 140 characters rather than the Deadline article which actually broke the story. Let’s face it, though – 99% of Twitter is inane ramblings, jokes and/or idle musings, but this doesn’t mean we can’t get excited when Scott Pilgrim director Edgar Wright tweets something like this, inspired by his excitement about an imminent Tron: Legacy screening:

@ edgarwright Start these rumours: I will direct sequels to Hawk The Slayer, Krull, The Black Hole and The Last Starfighter. All in 3D. All opening 2012...

Remakes of any (or all) of these would be enough to send certain members of the SFX team into critical meltdown. Products of another era they may be, but who wouldn’t want to see Hawk The Slayer on the big screen again, directed by the man who gave us Spaced and Shaun Of The Dead ? Unfortunately seems no good rumour has legs nowadays as moments later Wright dashed any hope of an’80s fest at your local World Of Cine:

@ edgarwright Stop the rumours. Those four films I mentioned earlier. I just got booted off them all. Fuck. #CreativeGlaiveDifferences

@ DonCoscarelli Shooting tomorrow early. What scene? "Meat Hits Floor." Every decent horror movie needs that scene.
