Darren Aronofsky has talked about his plans to bring the biblical tale of Noah to the big screen, calling it a “big event film”.

The director recently made waves with his dark ballet thriller Black Swan (which nabbed its star Natalie Portman an Oscar), and left comic-book fans wailing when he walked away from The Wolverine .

On Noah , he confirms: “I want to make a big event film, and I think it can be that.

“I don’t think it’s a very religious story. I think it’s a great fable that’s part of so many different religions and spiritual practices. I just think it’s a great story that’s never been on film.”

Noah ’s script is currently in the re-writing stage with scribe John Logan calling the shots, while Christian Bale has long been rumoured for the title role.

With Aronofsky no longer making The Wolverine , Noah could be an interesting alternative – sure to be a massive cinematic epic, it could end up being the director’s most ambitious project yet.
