Vince Gilligan talks Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has taken time out to discuss new series Better Call Saul , the forthcoming BB spin-off focusing on slimy lawyer Saul Goodman.

"There's obviously a danger inherent in doing a spinoff,” Gilligan told THR . “But I just love the character of Saul Goodman so much, and part of me doesn't want to say no to this world."

Gilligan went on to confirm some specifics regarding the show, which will appear as a series of one-hour episodes.

"We're both one-hour drama guys," says Gilligan, referring to co-creator Peter Gould. "So we figured, 'Why not shoot Saul in the same way?'

"Let's shoot it in Albuquerque, let's get as much of the crew back together as possible, and let's do it the way we did it before so that it will be of a piece with that pre-existing fictional universe that we had so much fun creating."

Gilligan went on to explain that the new show will take a markedly more comedic approach and will be set prior to the events documented in Breaking Bad , leaving the door intriguingly open for some famous faces to return…

"Personally, I'd have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then," admits Gilligan. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed...
