Is DC’s Raven set for TV? More cast announcements for Spidey. Beastly trailer, and more

Could Raven Replace Smallville?
The CW network is looking at the DC comics character Raven as a potential replacement for Smallville , according to Variety . Raven, a member of the Teen Titans, is half-human, half-demon purple-hooded telepath and empath with the ability to mentally project her soul away from her body (all of which sounds nice and cost-effective to reproduce on TV). Former Buffy and Angel writer Diego Gutierrez will write and executive produce the project. Smallville is set to go off the air when it completes its tenth and final season next year.

More Cast Announcements For Spidey Film
Campbell Scott and Julianne Nicholson are set to will play Peter Parker's parents in the new Spider-Man movie revamp, according to Heat Vision . The site also reckons that Irrfan Khan ( Slumdog Millionaire ) is in negotiations to play a villain named Van Atter (with Annie Parisse playing his wife). Could Heat Vision have misheard/misread something, though, as while there’s no Van Atter in Spidey comic mythology, there is a Van Adder, who become the Proto-Goblin. Filming starts this month in Los Angeles under the direction of Marc Webb for a release date on 3 July, 2012.

Beastly Trailer
It’s Beauty And The Beast meets Twilight .

Dreamworks Animation Sequels Galore
Jeffrey Katzenberg has told Empire that DreamWorks Animation studio is going sequel crazy, with multiple follow-ups to Madagascar , Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon on the cards. Madagascar 3 , due May next year, will be followed by a fourth Madagascar to round off the series. Kung Fu Panda 2 (expect a poster bearing the line Kung 2 Panda soon) is also scheduled for May 2011 and there are plans for another four after that. And if that sounds a lot, Katzenberg says that while How To Train Your Dragon 3 is a virtual certainty, potentially the series could go as far as eight movies, matching Cressida Cowell’s number of Dragon books.
