Kendrick and Wilson returning for Pitch Perfect 3

Last week we received word that Pitch Perfect 3 was moving forward at Universal, although there was no confirmation on the status of stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson. Well good news aca-fans, because THR is now reporting that both Kendrick and Wilson are officially set to return.

Kay Cannon is currently in negotiations to write a script for the third film, having previously penned the first two instalments. It remains uncertain whether Elizabeth Banks will return to the director's chair, although Hailee Steinfeld is also expected to appear once more.

The second film in the series has taken in a healthy $260 million at the global box office so far, which should explain why Universal is keen to keep the franchise going for some time yet. The new sequel is currently pencilled in to open in the US on 21 July 2017, with a UK date yet to be confirmed.
