Burton to produce Vampire Hunter

Having worked together producing last year’s animated 9 , Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov are re-teaming to produce a film adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter .

The new book is by Seth Grahame-Smith, who also wrote Pride And Prejudice And Zombies , and caught the producing team’s eye after they stumbled upon a slick trailer for the book (see below).

A pulp reimagining of Abraham Lincoln’s life, Vampire Hunter reveals him as, yeah, a hunter of the undead whose mother died at the hands of vampires.

“Henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion,” Lincoln writes in his journal. “I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose…”

Like their undead protagonists, these vampire flicks just refuse to die out. But with a premise as cool as this, we can see why Burton would want to make his own mark on the film trend.

We’re imagining this as more Bubba Ho-Tep than Twilight , which could be all kinds of awesome.

Here's the trailer that caught the team's interest...
