The Rock in talks for DC's Lobo

While Marvel and DC were busy revealing their upcoming plans at San Diego's Comic-Con , one of the superhero stories of the weekend came from elsewhere, with Dwayne Johnson confirming that he's currently in talks to play DC character, Lobo.

"Rumours of me possibly playing LOBO are true," said The Rock via his official Twitter account . "Joel Silver and Brad Peyton working on it now. That could be fun…"

Lobo is an alien mercenary who began life as one of DC's major villains, before the stable gradually re-cast him as a kind of badass anti-hero with a penchant for motorbikes. Chances are, that's the version that the big-screen adaptation will be working from.

As mentioned by Johnson in his tweet, Brad Peyton is currently occupying the director's chair, having previously worked with the action star on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island . Nothing has officially been announced as yet, but things certainly appear to be moving forward.

If it does happen, it certainly looks like a juicy role for Johnson, with Lobo's name translating into colourful reading in his native tongue (he's a Czarnian, don't you know?): "he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it." Nice.
