Remember the lowrider bouncing minigame from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? An update for GTA Online coming to current-gen consoles and PC on Tuesday has the next best thing: tons of lowrider customization options, complete with hydraulics, velour interiors, and teeth-rattling subwoofers.
Before you get too excited, the customization options aren't available for all of GTA 5's myriad automobiles. To get started, you'll need to visit the in-game website for Benny's Original Motor Works and buy one of six customizable base cars. Then you can take the car into Benny's shop in Strawberry to kit out everything from the engine block to the dashboard. You'll be able to purchase a fourth piece of property once the update rolls out, so don't worry about clearing out your garage.
There's no point in putting all that work in if you can't show it off; the update will add new options to the interaction menu so you can leave the doors open, the hood up, the headlights flashing, and the music pounding for impromptu car shows. Popping the hood and trunk could be a good way to block headshots in Freemode events… might be a little dangerous to drive around like that, though.
Speaking of danger, Franklin's friend/foil Lamar will start offering a series of new missions in the update. You can gear up for them with a full-auto Machine Pistol and Machete from Ammu-Nation, or if you prefer some PvP action, try them out in three extra Adversary Modes. Either way, don't be caught out on the town with a gauche old Ill-Gotten Gains look look - the Lowrider Update will also add a bunch of additional clothing and hairstyle options to GTA Online.
