Chris Columbus has been a little quiet of late since Rent failed to set the box office alight. But it turns out he’s been busy behind the scenes, looking for a new film to direct.
While he still hasn’t made his choice for the immediate future, he has shoved something into development for when he’s done with that project – as he’s looking to make a film about Robert F Kennedy’s 1968 run at the UA presidency. Best known as the brother of assassinated president John F Kennedy, RFK braved the fears generated by his sibling’s shocking death to mount a political campaign, refusing to give up even when his friend Martin Luther King was killed shortly before he was to speak.
Columbus is planning to pen the script and Variety is considering its position.
