He might be flashing his claws for the third time in this summer’s X-Men: The Last Stand, but Hugh Jackman is also thinking outside the leather uniform.
He’s signed up to star in Drive, adapted from James Sallis’ book chronicling the misadventures of a Hollywood stunt driver who, in a noir twist, moonlights as a wheelman for robberies. But if screeching around the streets and helping to commit crime wasn’t enough, a further spanner is chucked in his works when he discovers that someone has put a contract out on his life.
"We see it as a great Steve McQueen-type role for Hugh," Jackman’s producing partner John Palermo told Variety. If you’re patient, you’ll also get to see more Jackman action in Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain. Provided it can find a release date, that is…
