Charlie Brown and Snoopy will star in Peanuts adaptation

Hollywood’s ongoing battle to adapt anything and everything is set to continue apace with the news that classic cartoon strip Peanuts will be made into a movie by Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios.

However, this hopefully won’t just be another example of hammering a well-loved property into a movie-shaped mess, not least because the family of creator Charles M Schulz are set to be heavily involved.

Craig Schulz and Bryan Schulz are set to go to work on the script, being Charles’ son and grandson respectively. If anyone is going to ensure the spirit of the original comic strip is retained, it’s them.

As to how the studio plans to shoot the film, nothing has been confirmed as yet, although it’s thought that the project will be a straight animation, rather than a live-action / animation combo.

The film is set to be released on 25 November 2015, the 65th anniversary of the strip. Fingers crossed this one is the celebration Snoopy and chums deserve…
