Liam Neeson planning to quit action films in two years

He may have a very particular set of skills, but Liam Neeson is planning to give his trigger finger a rest, with the actor admitting (via The Guardian) his days as an action hero are numbered.

Neeson was promoting his latest explosion-fuelled outing Run All Night, and was asked the question of how much longer he plans to make these kind of movies.

“Maybe two more years,” was Neeson’s response. “If God spares me, and I'm healthy. But after that, I’ll stop, I think.”

Neeson’s secondary career as an action star came as something of a surprise following the sleeper success of the first Taken film, and while he’s never less than engaging in that kind of role, it will be interesting to see him tackle some different material again.

In the meantime, Neeson is co-starring with Joel Kinnaman and Ed Harris in Run All Night, which opens in US and UK cinemas today.
