Armie Hammer up for a role in Clint Eastwood's Hoover biopic

Armie Hammer is apparently in talks to join Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar Hoover movie, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly.

Hammer will take on the role of FBI official Clyde Tolson (which was the part that Joaquin Phoenix was linked to not so long ago). There are persistent rumours that suggest Tolson and Hoover were secretly lovers.

Following an impressive performance (or should that be performances?) as the Winklevoss twins in The Social Network , this would really put Hammer on the map.

The actor, who is the great grandson of famous philanthropist and oil tycoon Armand Hammer, was famously cast as Batman in George Miller's now defunct Justice League movie, but his luck has clearly changed since then.

EW are also reporting that the movie will now be known as J. Edgar , rather than Hoover (which isn't much of an improvement if you ask us).

This news comes just as Vulture are reporting that Charlize Theron is also in talks to join Eastwood's movie. She's apparently been offered the role of Helen Gandy, a secretary who became a long-term colleague of Hoover's.
