The best Amazon Prime Day gaming deals 2025: the big date announcement and everything to expect from this year's sale
Amazon Prime Day gaming deals will return this July
Amazon has now revealed its official Prime Day gaming deals dates, with the event officially kicking off on July 8 and running all the way through to July 11 - that's four days of discounts. That's not all, though Prime Gaming subscribers can already enjoy free games spanning Tomb Raider to Star Wars: Rebellion.
I've been covering discounts on everything from the PS5 to Nintendo Switch for over five years now, and I've picked up a thing or two about how these sales run along the way.
That means I've got a pretty good idea of which products will see the biggest discounts, and when those savings will hit. Not only that, but I go hands-on with all the latest gadgets every day, so I'm here to make sure you not only get the best deals this Prime Day but you're buying the kit that's actually worth it as well.
This year's discounts are likely to look a little different. We've got the Nintendo Switch 2 on the shelves, price increases have hit the Xbox hard, and the PS5 has seen its fair share of excellent bundles so far in 2025. I'm rounding up everything I expect to see just below.
What to expect from Prime Day gaming deals 2025
Those on the hunt for Prime Day gaming deals are casting a wide net so to help you narrow your catch, we're rounding up everything we expect to see on a platform basis. You'll find our predictions for the biggest discounts in the worlds of PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC just below.
PS5
The PS5 Slim has already seen some fantastic bundles in the first months of 2025, with a $50 discount and a free copy of Astro Bot or Call of Duty. I'm hoping for a similar saving over Prime Day, though that will depend on Sony's own plans. We could, however, see prices return to $449.99 / £429.99 without the included freebies though.
But what about those who already have a console under their belts? Well, games are already looking strong as well. As we've seen in previous years, the biggest discounts are going to be reserved for those long-standing entries in the catalog, but we're excited to see some serious cash off the likes of Horizon: Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok, Elden Ring, The Callisto Protocol, The Last of Us Part 1, and Dying Light 2. Older releases tend to do quite well in Prime Day gaming deals after all.
However, if you're after something a little newer, it's well worth keeping a close eye on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Doom: The Dark Ages, Astro Bot, and Assassin's Creed: Shadows. Many of these would be seeing their first major discounts if they drop in this year's Prime Day PS5 deals.
Accessories like controllers and SSDs are always a Prime Day favorite and we often see the official DualSense on sale during larger holiday events. That $74.99 / £59.99 MSRP often gives way to a sale price of around $54.99 / £44.99 which is what we're hoping for this year. On the storage side, the 2TB Samsung 990 Pro is the one to watch. It's the best PS5 SSD on the market, and dropped as low as $139.99 / £129.99 over Black Friday last year. SSDs have been a little harder to discount in the first few months of 2025, but this is hopefully where we'll land in the summer.
Watch List:
Xbox
We haven't seen too many Xbox Series X deals on the shelves in the last few months. Prime Day gaming deals might not be as kind to the flagship console as it will the cheaper S model, though. Microsoft's price increases have made these consoles particularly difficult to justify in 2025, and savings are few and far between.
That means the majority of this year's Prime Day gaming deals for Xbox players will be focused on that magic Game Pass code. While discounts haven't been too appealing recently (the best we're generally able to find was $5 off a three-month subscription), these really are the holy grails of Xbox deals.
Thankfully, there's no shortage of kit. Official controllers are going to be the most interesting sellers here; the cheaper Xbox Wireless Controller, mid-range Xbox Elite Series 2 Core Controller, and premium Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller will likely be the stars of this year's show.
Watchlist:
Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch OLED and original Nintendo Switch are in a tough spot right now, and I've seen discounts dropping pretty regularly on the older devices. That means value favors those picking up an original handheld this Prime Day - I'm not expecting any savings on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Of course, Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals are a lot more reliable when it comes to games. While we generally don't see the kinds of discounts we would expect from Black Friday here, we're still expecting to see some $20 / £20 discounts on the likes of Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart, and Super Mario Odyssey. Newer games walk a finer line, but with more and more titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Wonder slowly shedding their price tags we could be in for a treat in the summer.
There's also Nintendo Switch accessories to consider. Anything not compatible with the new Nintendo Switch 2 is already tanking in price. The Hori Split Pad Pro Attachment Set has dropped as low as $39.99 ($40 off $79.99) since the new device released, and the Genki Covert Dock is a Prime Day favorite ready to see similar savings. If you have upgraded to the new console, it's well worth keeping an eye on MicroSD Express cards, cases, and screen protectors as well.
