A new rumour concerning the baddies in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad has begun circulating online. The tidbit hails from comic book tipsters Latino Review, whose chief insider El Mayimbe dropped a not-so-secretive hint about the film’s main villain.
Or should we say villains.
The scoop reveals that Antiphon will apparently be the leader of the movie’s evil contingent, “a badass terrorist cell called Onslaught” who are described as “a special ops team made up of mercenaries.”
Said to possess a prosthetic leg and badly-scarred face, Antiphon will lead his crew into battle against the titular supergroup. Word is that Onslaught are hunting super heroes and villains for their own agenda. With that mission parameter in mind, it sounds like the Suicide Squad slot perfectly into that bracket.
With regards to casting, Ed Harris’ name was thrown into the mix for another supporting role recently, but is now linked to the part of antagonistic Antiphon.
Whoever - or whatever - finally nabs the coveted bad guy spot, the bunch leading the film remains the same.
Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. It arrives in theatres August 5th, 2016.
