The Han Solo movie is filming now, and here's the first picture from the set

All the pieces on the holo-chessboard are in place and filming has officially begun on the Han Solo movie. Co-director Chris Miller tweeted a picture of the clapperboard, showing the timestamp for the very first take. If you're not familiar, Red Cup is the working title for the film. It's a wordplay on Solo cups, which I will shamefully admit I did not get until just now.

So this movie is definitely happening, then. There aren't many details to be gleaned from the picture unless you're interested in the actual how of filming a movie (ooh 6K resolution and f/2.8) but it's exciting to know that everybody's in one place and things are moving forward on the young smuggler's origin story.

Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke, the as-yet-untitled Young Han Solo spin off is scheduled to be released May 25, 2018.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
