Kung Fu Panda writers to pen Candy Land movie

Kung Fu Panda writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger have signed on to pen a movie adaptation of the kids board game Candy Land.

The game, which is aimed at wee young nippers, is a simple and colourful affair that takes the player through various sweet pit-stops.

For some reason, we now have images of Homer Simpson’s imaginary land of chocolate running through our brains.

The movie plot for Candy Land will reportedly follow characters who search the kingdom for their lost king. Enchanted director Kevin Lima is in line to direct.

Candy Land: The Movie isn’t the first board game film to head into production in recent years, what with Battleship (starring Alexander Skarsgård) and Ridley Scott’s Monopoly both on the way.

We wonder how many children are now going to end up Googling 'candyman' by accident and get one heck of a shock...

Kung Fu Panda 2 opens 10 June.
