Jeff Nichols, Noam Murro and Karl Urban eyed for Aquaman

In a few years, DC’s cinematic universe is heading underwater for Aquaman, which may have found a director and new cast member.

According to Latino Review, Mud helmer Jeff Nichols and 300: Rise Of An Empire’s Noam Murro are at the top of Warner's director wishlist. Nichols’ name was unofficially linked to the gig during the Sony hack, and it’s thought that Murro’s work on the aforementioned action sequel impressed studio heads.

Star Trek star Karl Urban is also discussed in connection with a baddie role. Warner are said to be keen to lock him down soon, which will all depend on his commitment to the third Trek outing.

The report goes on to describe two scripts - penned by Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad - currently doing the rounds. Both are described as big budget affairs that are seen as ‘world-building spectacles’ to better acquaint cinemagoers with the Aquaman character.

Played by Jason Momoa, the nautical superhero will make his big screen debut in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, out in theatres 25th March 2016.

Aquaman will arrive on 27th July 2018.
