Ghostbusters' villain is "the ultimate loner" says director Paul Feig

We've heard a lot about the new Ghostbusters team - and we recently got a little more info on Chris Hemsworth's receptionist - but we don't know much about the villain our titular heroes will be facing. In the past, the Ghostbusters have gone up against medieval tyrants and demonic hellhounds, but this time round the team's foe is decidedly more normal...up to a point.

The villain's name is Rowan, and Paul Feig describes him as “the ultimate loner. A regular New Yorker whose goal is to bring some things back to this world. He wants to trap ghosts, but for a different purpose”, the director told Empire. The plot thickens...

It will be interesting to see just how much more information Feig & co will reveal about Ghostbusters' antagonist - and indeed, plot specifics - pre-release. The second full trailer will doubtless tease more of the film's plot, but here's hoping they save some surprises for July.

Directed by Paul Feig and starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth, Ghostbusters opens in UK and US cinemas on July 15, 2016.
