What to expect from Black Friday Pokemon card deals 2025

Quick menu

You might not expect the trading card game to feature in a sale better known for tech discounts, but Black Friday Pokemon card deals are well worth taking time out for. Discounts fly on a range of sets and products, so you can boost your collection for a whole lot less than normal each November.

The GamesRadar+ team and I have covered the sale for a long time now, so we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from this year's Black Friday Pokemon card deals. What's likely to be on offer, and which expansions will be included in the discounts? You'll find the details here. There's also advice on how to get maximum bang for buck from one of the best card games around, helping you become the very best (like no one ever was) during the event. That includes suggestions on which retailers to prioritize.

The Pokemon TCG doesn't enjoy big discounts very often, so Black Friday Pokemon card deals should definitely be on your radar in 2025. But what exactly will get a reduction? And what should you prioritize when the time comes?

Because the team and I have been writing about the sale for years, we've rustled up a few predictions based on previous trends. Here's our expert opinion on what to expect from 2025's Black Friday Pokemon deals.

🎁 Elite Trainer boxes will lead the charge
It's a fair bet that Elite Trainer Boxes (which feature a handful of booster packs, a special card, card sleeves, and more) will get excellent price cuts in 2025. They typically enjoy some of the best discounts during Black Friday each year, so I don't expect that pattern to change now.

🃏 Booster boxes should get the biggest reductions
You know those massive booster boxes, featuring hundreds of cards? They get the most tempting price cuts in terms of actual money off. That's because they're the most expensive to begin with, but it also means Black Friday is your best chance to dive in if your budget is able to stretch.

➕ Giftware and accessories will get good (if modest) savings
Battle Decks with premade sets, limited packs such as the Charizard ex Collection, gift sets (the kind with pins or exclusive cards), and third-party accessories are contenders for a saving. Indeed, I saw plenty of them go on offer last year, and accessories in particular fill the listing pages on Amazon.

❌ There's going to be a lot of third-party roundups
Black Friday seems like an opportunity for third-party sellers to come out of the woodwork. A lot of card bundles and roundups will appear to be on sale, but I'd suggest proceeding with caution - there's no way to tell what you're getting, or if it's legit.

🏫 Battle Academy always goes on offer
If you're a newcomer, you should definitely check out the Pokemon Battle Academy box this Black Friday. It's a super effective introduction (apologies, it was too tempting) to the game itself and gives you everything you need to play right away. Because it often gets a price cut and has been reduced during Black Friday before, I'd say to keep an eye on it as we enter the November sales season.

When will Black Friday Pokemon card deals begin?

This year's Black Friday Pokemon card deals will officially take place on November 28, 2025. This is the final Friday of November, as is tradition.

However, that doesn't mean the sale is limited to a single day. Oh heavens, no. Black Friday starts earlier and earlier each year (unofficially, at least) and rolls into early December, at which point the discounts become 'Cyber Monday' deals. Based on previous years, I'd anticipate 2025's bargains to emerge from the long grass a week or two before Black Friday itself.

Does Pokemon go on sale during Black Friday?

Pokemon absolutely does get in on the Black Friday sale, offering discounts on toys, video games, and more.

Even though the Pokemon Trading Card Game didn't used to enjoy reductions at this time of year, that's now changed as well. These days, the Black Friday Pokemon card deals provide money off everything from massive booster boxes to Elite Trainer Boxes.

Where will I find the best Black Friday Pokemon card deals?

Even though Amazon is always a good bet when it comes to Black Friday Pokemon card deals, the likes of Walmart are often pretty great for discounts. That was certainly the case last year, so I have high hopes for 2025.

Unfortunately, everyone's cottoned on to this fact and the shelves are stripped bare pretty fast. That means you'll need to be fast if you want to catch 'em all - OK, fine, I'll stop with the Pokejokes now.

Here are the retailers I tend to keep an eye on:

USA
- Amazon: A reliable choice
- Miniature Market: Regular sales
- Walmart: Offers surprising range
- Best Buy: Plenty of boxsets

UK
- Amazon: Traditionally great offers
- Magic Madhouse: Good for individual cards
- Zatu: Reliable source of discounts

Charizard ex Super Premium Collection | $92.98 $58.98 at Walmart
Save $34 - This was close to the lowest-ever price we've seen this chunky Charizard ex Super Premium Collection go for, making it a real steal. It was a Black Friday miracle, especially as it was selling out elsewhere.

⭐ UK price: £74.99 £60.95 at Zatu

Paldea Adventure Chest | $49.55 $22.49 at Amazon
Save $27 - This set used to average $30 or thereabouts, making such a massive reduction a standout in last year's Black Friday Pokemon card deals.

Pokemon TCG Classic | $274.95 $247.45 at Walmart
Save $27 - It was an expensive purchase even with money knocked off for last year's Black Friday Pokemon card deals, but considering how it's a hit of pure nostalgia (and the fact it didn't normally drop below $280), I'd say it was worth considering if you'd played the TCG from the start.

⭐ UK price: £399.99 £194.99 at Zavvi

Japanese 151 Booster Box | $205.99 $99.99 at WalmartSave $106 - Even though it had been cheaper in the past, this massive saving of over 100 bucks was still ridiculous. It demonstrates why Walmart is the one to watch during this year's Black Friday Pokemon deals.

⭐ UK price: £104.99 £94.99 at Zatu

Stellar Crown Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 $36.99 at Amazon
Save $16 - I think this was just a few cents off a record low price on the new-ish Elite Trainer Box. It's also got a higher MSRP than Amazon was claiming, so it's even better value than you'd think... especially because it averaged $47 or $48 in price most of the time.

⭐ UK price: £49.99 £36.95 at Zatu

Shrouded Fable Elite Trainer Box | $49.99 $32.99 at Best Buy
Save $17 - Best Buy snuck in to undercut Walmart's previous offer on this Elite Trainer Box. Because the price kept creeping down as a result of this back-and-forth, I'm not gonna complain. A good example of why watching out for older releases is a solid idea.

⭐ UK price: £49.99 £36.45 at Magic Madhouse

Charizard EX premium collection | $39.99 $27.99 at Amazon
Save $12 - This was the lowest price we'd seen the Charizard EX set go for over at Amazon. With a special Charizard foil promo card, card sleeves, a card protector, and some packs to tuck into, you got a lot of bang for a buck, and it made for a great gift during the holiday season.

⭐ UK price: £37 at Amazon
