Ratchet & Clank: HD Collection confirmed and dated by Sony

Revisit the series' multiplayer debut with PSN update

Sony's confirmed it'll be bringing back the first three Ratchet & Clank games, originally released for PS2, in an HD Collection. The news comes shortly after Amazon accidentally leaked the collection in a French retail listing. Of course, it also comes ten years after the release of the original and a month after Sony continued its run of remastered HD hits with the Jak & Daxter Collection, so the news is as unsurprising as it is welcome.

The collection rolls together Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, bumping the graphics up to 3D-capable 1080p and retaining the third title's well-received multiplayer mode that probably never got the attention it deserved on the moderm-optional PS2. Sony's dated the Ratchet & Clank Collection with a Spring release in Europe and a Fall debut in the US. Insomniac promises to reward American fans' patience with “something very special” to celebrate 10 years since Ratchet first swung his wrench upside our collective heart.

    This and the Jak & Daxter collection are starting to sway me to just f*cking buy a PS3. Nostalgia doesn't even begin to describe how badly I want to play these games.

    I'm somewhat impressed that they're going to be bringing UYA's multiplayer back around for this. Had some fun with what little of that mode I played years ago, so I might poke around in it a little more this time around.

    Not enough HD in the world to make me buy the same shit twice. Come on people get hip and demand new titles instead of glitz and glamour slapped on a big stink load.

    Please, please, PLEASE let them do that. Up Your Arsenal was one of the best games ever made, and I still haven't played the first two.

    I doubt they will, but they're giving me more and more reasons to get a PS3. And yeah, R&C 3 was incredible. It's at No.3 in my list of top games of all time.

    Brilliant! Especially them leaving in the multiplayer for the 3rd game. I never even got that game, but I do remember hearing how it was unfortunate that the PS2 wasn't an ideal console to really make the feature standout.

    Day MFing ONE! It's my favorite series. It doesn't really bother me that Deadlocked isn't in there because I really didn't like it. It was missing a lot of what made Ratchet and Clank so good.

    Heh, i see what sony's doing, first sly, then jak and now Ratchet, the 3 series of cartoon awesomeness Sonys given us over the years. Parrappa should be next, even though theres only 2 games(i think) I hope this trend doesnt keep pushing it, Too many HD collections nowadays.

    I am pretty excited that this is coming out, kind of disappointing Deadlocked isn't going to be included but oh well. I am curious what the "very special" thing is though.
