Zodiac Thriller

When we sat down with Jake Gyllenhaal to talk Jarhead, we managed to get him to reveal all about how he’s finding working on his next film – David Fincher’s Zodiac.

The true-life tale sees Gyllenhaal as Robert Graysmith, a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle. Graysmith was reporting on the self-proclaimed Zodiac Killer, a serial snuffer who stalked San Francisco during the ’60s and ’70s. But his job took a turn for the scare-shaped when the killer started taunting him directly with letters.

And it sounds like Fincher’s bringing his typically detailed style to the movie: “With Fincher there’s just an incredible focus on the details, like just literal things that I had sort of reacted against after working with Sam Mendes, who’s very much like… there were no marks, there’s nothing, no choreography,” explained Gyllenhaal. “It’s sort of like doing Chekhov and then doing Shakespeare. On David’s set you have to follow a rhythm. If you don’t follow the rhythm, if you try and go out of that, it just won’t work.”

With Fincher back in serial killer territory, chances are all the work will be well worth it…
