Tron: Legacys Joseph Kosinski in talks to direct Gran Turismo movie
The man behind Tron: Legacy looks poised to re-enter the world of gaming, as THR reports that Joseph Kosinski is in talks to direct Sony’s video game adaptation, Gran Turismo.
In development for some years, initial plot details came from Turismo game designer Kazunori Yamauchi back at 2013’s Gamescon. At the time, he hinted that the movie would focus on a video gamer-turned-racer.
The focus of the film’s story is now being kept under wraps, but it’s expected that Kosinski will draft an entirely new script.
According to the report, the Oblivion helmer has been toying with the idea of a racing movie for some time. He had previously been attached to Go Like Hell over at Fox - a sporting biopic about Ford and Ferrari’s 1996 Lemans battle, with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in the crosshairs to star. While that failed to gain traction, his enthusiasm for the genre looks set to switch up the gears with Gran Turismo.
