Kevin Smith is busy getting the band back together for his forthcoming sequel to Mallrats, with Jason Lee becoming the latest member of the original cast confirmed to return.
Smith confirmed the casting himself by posting an image of Lee clutching one of those infamous chocolate-covered pretzels on his Facebook feed…
“Saaayyy... Would YOU like a chocolate covered pretzel?” reads the accompanying caption. “BRODIE IS BACK! So by the end of this year, Jason Lee is coming to the MALL, ya'll! 6 down, 6 to go! Collect 'em all!”
Lee will join fellow returnees Jason Mewes, Stan Lee, Shannon Doherty, Michael Rooker and Smith himself, with the “six to go” presumably referring to Claire Forlani, Jeremy London, Joey Lauren Adams, Ben Affleck, Ethan Suplee, and Renée Humphrey.
No release date has been confirmed for Mallrats 2 as yet, but it certainly seems as though the film is gathering pace, with Smith reassembling his original cast in double-quick time.
