David Fincher drops out of Steve Jobs biopic

Sony will look to replace David Fincher as director of its forthcoming Steve Jobs biopic, after failing to reach an agreement over fees.

Fincher and Sony have enjoyed a good working relationship of late, having collaborated together on The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo , but the studio has reportedly drawn the line at the director's demands on this latest project.

According to THR , Fincher was demanding a fee of $10 million up front, as well as considerable control over the film's proposed marketing campaign.

The project would have seen Fincher reunite with The Social Network screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, with their last outing together having made Sony some $225 million back in 2010.

Christian Bale had been thought to be Fincher's first choice to star as the Apple genius, although it is unclear whether Sony will still pursue him in the director's absence.
