With The Hunger Games all wrapped up, the Girl on Fire, Jennifer Lawrence, is turning her hand to other endeavours. She's already co-penned a comedy with Amy Schumer, in which the pair intend to play sisters, and now she has her sights on a role out of the spotlight. She's taking up residence in the director's chair.
J-Law's first stint behind the lens will be tackling a piece inspired by a 2012 New Yorker story called "Operation Delirium."
“I’ve signed on to direct something called Project Delirium," she told Entertainment Weekly, "it’s based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong.” The original article revolves around experiments conducted on soldiers during the Cold War.
“It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that," she added. "If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.” You can catch her next in David O. Russell's Joy, which opens Christmas Day.
