Japanese Ghostbusters theme is clearly superior to the Fall Out Boy version

The new Ghostbusters theme song featuring Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott got a supernaturally chilly reception, but Sony Pictures Japan is sticking a lot closer to the Ray Parker Jr. original with its take on the beloved anthem. The accompanying music video stars four Japanese actresses and comedians with proton packs, a whole mess of glowing neon squares, and um… well, just watch.

As far as Japanese covers of three-decade-old movie themes go, it's pretty good! And I really dig those color-coded proton beams. That would make it much easier to know who to blame for crossing the streams, assuming reality didn't implode immediately after.

Directed by Paul Feig and starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth, Ghostbusters opens in UK and US cinemas on July 15, 2016.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
