Sony has released the first two images from The Equalizer , in which Denzel Washington plays former covert ops officer turned avenging angel, McCall.
The new images show Washington in full-on badass mode, posing with a firearm in the pouring rain, and escorting Chloë Grace Moretz’s vulnerable teen through a pitch-black Boston night.
The film is based upon an ‘80s TV show of the same name, but according to Washington, it’s the story’s big-screen qualities that drew him to the project.
“It’s a classic story, the innocent girl and the guy coming in to save the day and kick some butt,” says Washington. “You’ll get some popcorn and escape for a couple of hours.”
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and co-starring Melissa Leo, Marton Csokas, and Haley Bennett, The Equalizer will open in the UK on 10 October 2014.
