Michael B. Jordan packs a punch in first trailer for Creed

Warner Bros. has debuted the first trailer for Creed, starring Michael B. Jordan as a youthful fighter and Sylvester Stallone as the boxing legend Rocky. It's the first new entry into the franchise since 2006's Rocky Balboa and finds boxing champ Apollo Creed's son, Adonis Creed, keen to follow in his father's footsteps. Stallone's world-weary boxer steps in and agrees to train the scrappy upstart.

The film hails from Jordan's Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler. And based on this first trailer, making the leap from a critical indie darling to a blockbuster is one the helmer makes with great confidence. Check it out below...

It's a mighty impressive teaser, marrying the gritty, earthy angles of Coogler's last outing with the kinetic pace of the Rocky franchise. Jordan's got some big shoes to fill - and even bigger punches to throw. By the looks of things, he's in very capable hands with Balboa guiding him to victory.

Co-starring Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Tony Bellew, Creed opens in the US on 25 November 2015, before opening in the UK on 27 November.
