Xbox 360 holiday sales slump 28 percent from 2011

Microsoft sold 5.9 million Xbox 360s from October to December 2012, down 28 percent from 8.2 million in the same period last year, almost as if we were at the end of a console generation.

The software giant provided info on its overall financial performance, as well as that of its Xbox-led Entertainment and Devices Division for its second quarter, which ended December 31, 2012.

Halo 4 was the quarter's best-selling title, and is in fact the best selling game in the 11-year-old franchise, Microsoft reported.

The Entertainment and Devices Division brought in $3.772 million in the second quarter, an eleven percent slump from $4.238 million in the same period over 2011. Those figures also include revenue from Windows Phone 8. The software giant's overall revenue, however, grew by three percent.

Oh what a shock, people are not going to shell out full price for a system that will be outdated within a year by the 720.
