The deadline for entry is 11:59 p.m. PST on April 27, 2009. WeÂ?ll pick the five most devoted fans (based on your stories) and send them this fine tome of near-immeasurable value:

You do have to be 18 or older and live in the US to win. Sorry.

Full rules follow below, please give Â?em a read. And if youÂ?d like to opt-in and get steady info about Simon & Schuster books, follow this link and theyÂ?ll hook you right up.

Contest Rules

I don't play WoW now, thank God, but when I did it was pretty bad. My 360 got the RRoD and I started playing it for the time my 360 was gone, which was when my son was due in fall of 2007. So when we were at the hospital, I had to go back home every couple of hours to bring out the dogs, but I would also play WoW for about an hour or so and get yelled at because I wasn't at the hospital. My wife had to have an emergency C-Section done and I almost didn't make it back in time because I was playing WoW. Then I got my 360 back and stopped playing. That's the cure for WoWarcrack...a 360.

She doesn't know this story, so shhhhh

So my story isnÂ?t great by any meansÂ?its aboot 3 friends and their WoW experience(s)Â?Mark, Abe, Curtis (moi)
So I got into WoW late in the game, so to speak. I had tried FF XI and hated it and was turned off of MMOÂ?s for a while until Mark informed me of WoW. My only knowledge of Warcraft was their RTS history, and I LOATHE RTSÂ? games, so naturally I was incredibly hesitant. I was in Best Buy one day and I saw the WoW trial disk staring up at me and I said, Â?What the hell,Â? and picked it up.

As soon as I got home and started the installation process Abe called and said he had picked it up as well and was loving every second of it, still I was hesitantÂ?That was until I started playing it myselfÂ?Never have I been taking in by a game so fast. Needless to say I went out the next day and bought the full version and played for the next year and halfÂ?WoW is like crack in video game form...

I have since stopped playing but I shall never forget my experiences in Azeroth and beyondÂ?

I've not much of a story, but I'll enter nonetheless.

I started a few years back, the time that I had a shitty PC, a few years after it's rising popularity and decided to try it out.
I was no stranger to MMORPG's, having tried to get into runescape, ragnarok, the Star Wars one, and probably another, and failed to enjoy any. "WoW is different!" and similar statements were flying around, so I complied and went ahead and bought the full version without trying it out. To my surprise, I quickly became addicted. I rose in level above all my friends, who were dicking around with multiple characters when I was dedicated to one. A night elf hunter, I remember. But, because of my bad computer and terrible connection, I had to suffer through huge amounts of lag every time I got near any large cities or gatherings. Within a couple months, I got fed up getting stuck in places or suddenly freezing for no reason. So I quit. Quite a dedicated fan, if i can say so myself.

This story takes place before Burning Crusade, on a long weekend my freshman year in college. Bear in mind Warcraft PVP was a crude, malicious world at this time, not like it is now.

My bedspread has been crudely tacked up over the single window in my bedroom. Pop-tart wrappers and three mugs of cold, skunked coffee take up every inch of free space on my desk, and the only light in the room is the glow from my monitor. And there, bushy haired, unshowered, and naked save for my boxers, I am, in the middle of something like a six or seven hour AV match, furiously mashing my WASD keys and mouse buttons.

A sudden noise breaks my trance. Looking over to my door I spot the blurry silhouette of my girlfriend against daylight, her face a frozen in a mask of horror and disgust. We lock eyes and a tidal wave of guilt immediately washes over me. Â?I haven't talked to you since Thursday,Â? she goes.

Â?What day is it?Â? I ask her.

Â?Sunday morning. We're supposed to go to breakfast. Is this all you've done since Thursday night?Â?

Â?Yes. Yes it is.Â?

My time played at the time was 88 days and something hours the time was about three am and the sun would be coming up soon I had been taking small naps to keep me going they lasted about three hours between three days and nights. I had been at the mid night launch for the first expansion by myself which I went to right after doing a ten hour shift that ended at eleven. Luckily my store was next to the game stop but we had to wait till the store was locked up to go. One of my coworkers had invited me to go out with him and others for a night on the town but I said Â? no thanks I am going to stay and play wow tonightÂ? he said Â? really?Â? and walked to his car. I however waited in line and bought three expansion packs. One for me my brother and cousin including time cards that cost thirty dollars each and the only reason I bought them was so they could play with me and me not play alone. That night I talked with some other players on-line and we played over 2 days

Alright, my story happened last December

I play a hunter, and we have pets. One of the rarest pets to tame at the time was Loque'nahak. After hitting the new level cap I started looking for it. Lemme explain why heÂ?s rare. He's on a seemingly random spawn timer, anywhere between 3 to 12 hours, which it shares with two others, who could spawn in his place instead. He has at least seven known spawn locations throughout the zone, most where anyone could find it and kill him for the achievement he gives. I spent upwards of 8 hours a day going all around the zone, hoping he would spawn. Two weeks of searching and I was ready to give up. During my final search, my dad told me I had come with him to the hardware store. Told him to tell me when.10 minutes later... I found him. I'll spare you the details on the taming, but let me just say I messed up every part of the process. Finally, after the longest 30 seconds of my gaming career he was mine! Just then, my dad got outta the bathroom and called me. I had to go the hardware store all jittery.

Just to add another layer of nerd to this story, I have the date and time. 12/16/08 5:41 EST.

Well, mine happened 2 months ago and i know this cause my subscription died Thursday. So me and 2 other friends go on the net get the download, even though two of use already bought the game but were like "**** that, let's get free crap," so we get the trial, play for ten days and i decide "They got me again, better buy another card for this account." Turns out you need to buy a disc and register it to get a free month, you can't get any time with just a card and no disc. So me and my buddy are S.O.L. cause we have 40$ and no full account. Luckily, we both remembered our old passwords and went back to the new server we had started playing on with 3 of our other friends. A month ago my buddy and i are doing a raid and he drops the " I'm leaving WoW" bomb shell on me. As soon as i hear that i got depressed and slowly stopped playing again, and my buddy is still pissed cause I'm our guild master and we have a bank which as all WoW players know is a HUGE deal when your level 18.

My name is Gabe and i used to be a WoW-aholic

a few weeks ago, me and 2 friends started a raid of all 80's on a lvl 60 raid. besides my 2 friends and i, we got a bunch of random ppl we didnt know. so, it was just me and my mage friend (kid) and 1 other guy waiting right next to the big ass dragon. my and kid were in voice chat i said i was bored. he bet me $10 that i wouldnt run in and start attackin it alone, so i did. no1 came to help me so i tried to move the dragon to the assholes not helping and it turns out she does a huge fire attack that auto-kills everyone wen u move her to a place she cant go. so we all get revived and b4 any1 could be healed, i ran in again, and this time kid came with me. just us 2 got the boss down to 65% on our own it 20min, then the others came in and we all kill her in less than 2 minutes. it was SHITTON of fun cuz now i gatta try and kill my group every raid

I bought and paid for WoW and a timecard, and then I played for less than a week. Sigh.

If only they'd had the trial edition then.

Fine I'll admit it. I play WoW. Anyways my story takes place in game. I was fighting with a death knight near the Crystal Vice. Of course I was winning but before I killed it I stopped attacking and waved goodbye. The DK must have thought I wasnt going to kill it and decided to run away. But while it was running for safety I used Hammer of Wrath to finish it off.

i got a 80 bloodelf hunter on bloodscalp. im rading 10 man nax one day and were on grobbolous. in case you dont know it is a super hard boss thats needs to be kited and a whole bunch of stuff. We wipe the first time when he has about 17k left. we respawn and start again. we got him down to about 30k hp then all of a sudden on vent the tank starts freaking out about something and everyone is confused. then he yeslls "FIRE!" he was making soup or something and forgot to check it and it got too hot and cought a paper towel on fire that was touching it and it quickly spread to his cabinets. with 30k hp left on the boss he has to decide wether to put out the fire or down the boss. well this badass stays and downs the boss and then runs to put it out. it burned like 3 of his cabinets and we completed naxx. worth it imo. he got some good gear.
i was excited because i thought i recorded the freak out. but i had to re start vent for some reason and it stopped it. would have been a great memory.

So this one time I was on an really huge raid with my guild, The Fellowship of the Ring. Naxx. Gandalf got on his epic mount and caused a distraction while we infiltrated Mordor. It literally took us weeks of playtime. In the end, I used my +13 Cloak of Invisibilty and threw the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom, but a member of our guild had tried to betray us and fell in the lava as well. He IRL died from cardiac arrest.

Cool story eh?

This story may seem far fetched but is 100% true

I got into WoW originally because my girlfriend at the time played it and I thought it would be a good way for us to bond. Our relationship was really shaky at the time and I was contemplating breaking up with her. Anyway, we would sometimes play together but most of the time I ended up playing without her since our schedules conflicted. So I met this girl online and we talked on the phone and became fast friends leveling together and such. Eventually we realized we lived in a decent proximity to each other and decided to meet in person, since I really wasnt feeling my gf at the time and was looking for an alternative. When we set a time and a place I met this girl......and realized it was my girlfriends 14 year old sister (I was 22 at the time). She wasnt playing a joke on me, I had only met her once so she didnt know it was her sisters boyfriend. Suffice to say my girlfriend found out and we broke up shortly after. And no im not Pedobear so I didnt end up doing anything with the sister.

I created a new gnome and made him a ridiculous and ugly looking as I possibly could. I ran straight to Ironforge, stripped down to my underwear, and started dancing. While dancing I kept yelling will dance for beer. Soon, a night elf came up to me and sai, "Follow me." He took me to a bar where we both stocked up on beer, and we then walked around Ironforge drunkenly insulting everyone that we could find. People got pretty mad. It was amazing.

I did this when I went over my friend's house, I don't play WOW regularly and DO NOT want the book. Feel free to talk about it on the podcast, but DO NOT make me a winner.
