The next game from the enigmatic, creative developer Grasshopper  Manufacture has been on our minds ever since it was announced last year. The more we found out about the cheerleader/zombie slayer adventure Lollipop Chainsaw, the some excited we were. Tonight at a special event for the game in San Francisco, the dev and its US publisher Warner Bros were finally ready to announce the game’s release date. We now know players in North America will be able to play the game on PS3/360 June 12.

The game comes out in Europe the next day on June 13, and while we’re excited it’s coming out before the fall, the timing has us a little concerned. Last year Grasshopper’s previous title, Shadows of the Damned, came out June 21 in the US to wide acclaim and lackluster sales. Lollipop will be out in a similar time-frame the week after E3, will it be similarly overlooked?

We hope not, as what we played of it tonight was pretty promising. Keep an eye out for a more in-depth preview tomorrow.

Damn, something else to add to the already astoundingly-full summer line up. That said, though, this is something I'd love to get my hands on, even if it does mean having to put off buying Anarchy Reigns for a month or two

I love Suda, but this still looks retarded. I get the Z-movie vibe it's going for (a la Shadows), but I miss the good old days of Killer7 and NMH. Those games had far more imagination.

I'm excited for this one. I hope it turns out to be good.
