Dustforce devs open up on indie game sales figures

The game industry is a secretive bunch, and few of its secrets are better kept than sales figures. That was kind of a problem for the four developers at Hitbox, who had little to go on when coming up with financial estimates for their first game, Dustforce.

Thanks to a new post on Hitbox's blog, you can take a compelling look into the life and times of an indie game on Steam. Here's a hint: release day is peanuts next to a Humble Bundle.

The fast-paced platformer has done well enough to keep Hitbox comfortable while it produces Spire, its next project, thanks in large part to discounts and increased word-of-mouth from the Humble Bundle.

Just imagine if big publishers didn't fear investors enough to turn estimates into espionage. Industry analysts would be out of a job!
