Though the big take away from our most recent time with Soulcalibur V was the addition of Assassin's Creed's Ezio to the roster, Namco Bandai also dropped tons of other knowledge bombs on the audience that night, with much said about the game’s launch. The blade-based fighter is coming out January 31 of next year in the US and February 3 in Europe, and like most games these days SCV is getting both a special edition package and a preorder bonus. But just what’s included in these deals?
As we’re currently in the fall game release apocalypse, the early 2012 release date should give us some breathing room to actually enjoy the fighter. If you choose to step up and get the limited version of Soulcalibur V for a currently unnamed price, you’ll end up with an original art book, a CD soundtrack and a special case to hold the game. Additionally, you get special digital download of white and dark knight armor you can use on created characters.
On top of all that, Namco Bandai revealed a special preorder incentive for the game that increases the fighter roster by one, as Soulcalibur’s strangest character after Voldo returns. Lord Geo Dampierre, the cartoonish, self-proclaimed greatest assassin of all time (last seen in PSP-exclusive Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny) will be a playable character should you preorder Soulcalibur V from some yet to be named retailers. We’d bet that eventually he’ll be available as a paid downloadable just as the Star Wars guys were for Soulcalibur IV, but until we know more, take a look at Dampierre in the first trailer and screens of him throwing down in SCV.
