As a goth I don't appreciate you perpetuating the myth that goths shoot up schools. That was the myth started by main stream media during columbine because they didn't want to blame the parents. What kind of idiot parents have no idea what their kids are doing in their room. They were stockpiling guns and making bombs for fucks sake! Maybe a little parental supervision was in order? The only reason they latched on to the whole goth thing was because they listened to Marilyn Manson. Marilyn Mansons music isn't even goth, he is alternative or shock rock or metal. Not goth rock. The original shadow project, android lust, how like a winter, orifice, and rasputina are the kinds of bands real goths listens to. The media latched onto the Manson and trench coat thing and called them goth because they had no information and perpetuated eachothers lies. I'm very offended by your little joke. Not only is it not funny because people were killed but it's also not funny because it is a bigoted comment against a sub culture that has done nothing and has been treated like shit since some asshole in a suit decided that some fucked up kids were goth without researching gothic culture. It's been open season on us since then which is kind of funny. If everyone thinks we are going to freak out and murder people, why the fuck would they want to be top of the list?

TL;DR we all have to deal with stereotypes, you may have to get used to it. no one's gonna change coz you complained on the internet.
  • ScaryEric - January 12, 2012 10:41 p.m.

And you shouldn't have to. Obviously there are alot of people out there that are bigoted towards a certain group but it's ok to be offended. If this was a racial thing It would not be reacted to like this by the people on this site

Funny thing is, what you said in this little rant is exactly what the comment was: a joke. Stop taking it so seriously and get off your high horse. Absolutely nobody associates goths with high school/college shootings anymore, times have moved on. Problem is, it sounds like you live in the past, and still think people generalise. Very few people generalise nowadays, and your complaint about ONE damn joke is just petty, and will get you nothing more than people having a go at you, saying your 'overly serious' about the situation. And yes, before you ask, I do know what goths are like, as my sis is a goth herself. Plus if you want to do something about it, go complain somewhere where people will listen, not a freakin' GAMING website.

Ghost has summed it up best here. Some of the reactions to Eric as an individual here are... pretty terrible. Telling him to smart up and dress to make him feel uncomfortable is just forced ostracization. He is who is and has found a group wherein he feels comfortable being himself. Talking about impressing peers and it all being about the music is a pretty narrow minded way of looking at any sociological group. That being said, Eric, you WAY overreacted to the joke. Sorry bud. Understandably, from this reaction, you're kinda used to the abuse you get from being who you are which probably led to the rant, but really, take it easy! If you can laugh about the game, you can laugh about the joke in the article. Being a goth doesn't mean social segregation, just laugh along with the rest of us and nobody has anything to take the piss out of... bar clothes and music... but hey, what's different to them is different to you too ;) lol

Yeah guess I shouldn't have started this shit in the first place. I'm glad there is one person that's reasonable on here. I dont understand where this conversation went from me being offended to talking about clothing choices and people assuming I'm socially segregated ( which im not) and me whining about being made fun of which I'm not. But anyway thanks for being respectful and understanding! Really appreciate it!

I know how you feel, ScaryEric... As a Lumberjack I don't appreciate you people perpetuating the myth that chainsaws only cut up zombies. That was a myth started by main stream media during the horror boom in the 70's. Chainsaws have been treated like shit since some asshole in ripped shirt decided to mount one on his arm. It's been open season on chainsaws since then, which is kind of funny. If everyone thinks we lumberjacks only use chainsaws for killing zombies, why the fuck do trees get cut down? Also, shut up, goth kid. Go weep tears of brutality elsewhere. OUT!

YAY FOR EVIL DEAD. That is what I took from this whole argument. Nice comeback, though, funniest thing I've read all day :D

hmmmm, my call on the twist... It was all a dream by Travis Touchdown after a night of Romero/Evil Dead movies and too much cheerleader porn in the web browser. Swan is a reference to Jigsaw's puppet isn't he? He has to be cause the resemblance is uncanny.

Every trailer just makes this game look better and better. And after the excellence of SotD, I have extremely high hopes for Lollipop Chainsaw.

Oh man, I'm getting excited. Absolutely loved Shadows of the Damned, and I really wanna try out some of Suda's other stuff. And as much as I love SotD, melee combat's always been more of my thing. I've said it before, but I'll say it again; I hope to high hell this has more replayability than Shadows, it'd be a massive shame if this sold just as badly. Although, with the overly-sexualised teenage cheerleader protagonist, I doubt that's going to happen. 2012 look's to be shaping as a good year for gamers :D
  • Redeater - January 12, 2012 10:55 a.m.

I really can't wait to play this game. I loved Shadows of the Damned. On a different note have you guys already done a story on Abobo's Big Adventure? Just finished that game and sweet Jesus I would gladly fork over money for an actual NES cart! Look forward to hearing about it on T'dar.
