A guide is always handy, considering how stacked 2025 has been already. The second and final part of Jon M. Chu's adaptation of the iconic musical Wicked is now out in cinemas. Titled Wicked: For Good, after one of the movie's most anticipated songs, it picks up in the aftermath of the first film. If you'll recall, this saw Elphaba on the run after refusing to bend to the will of the Wizard. Expect more songs, seriously emotional moments, and some neat twists in the second half. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

The third installment in Netflix's hit Knives Out franchise arrives in 2025 with Wake Up Dead Man. Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the movie follows the same convention as the first two, with a rotating cast revolving around Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc. The new outing is just as star-studded, too, with Josh O'Connor and Josh Brolin playing priests and Mila Kunis playing a police officer. The rest of the cast features Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, and Cailee Spaeny.

Zootopia 2 is one of the most anticipated upcoming animated movies of the year, and the good news is that it's almost here. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are set on a new case, one involving some sneaky reptiles threatening to disrupt the peace. Just like in the first movie, we can expect to see the two's partnership put to the test. Zootopia is one of the best Disney movies of all time, so we have high hopes for this sequel.

The sequel to the hit PG-13 horror adaptation of the massively popular video game series sees the return of Josh Hutcherson's Mike and Elizabeth Lail's Vanessa - but also features a pretty cool Scream reunion what with Matthew Lillard returning as supervillain William Afton and Skeet Ulrich joining the cast as a brand new character. Per the official tagline, "Anyone can survive five nights. This time, there are no second chances."

Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution

If you can't wait to see Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, this new compilation movie offers a first look at the new episodes one month early. Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution combines a recap of the previous season's Shibuya Incident arc with the first two episodes of season 3, and it's arriving in US theaters on December 5. The next chapter, which adapts The Culling Game arc from the manga, will focus on Kenjaku's brutal tournament, where the stakes are higher than ever.

Avatar: Fire and Ash

It feels like it's been too long since we had a new Avatar movie, but thankfully James Cameron's epic fantasy world returns in 2025. The third installment, titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, focuses on a new clan, the volcano-dwelling "Ash People". Most of the major stars return, including Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, and Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch. A lot is still up in the air about what the movie will focus on, but it's certain it will be visually stunning.

Anaconda

Jack Black and Paul Rudd star in Anaconda, a comedy which, in a way, pays homage to the 1997 movie of the same name, starring Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube. The new Anaconda follows two childhood best friends as they hit a midlife crisis and decide to head out into the Amazon to remake their favorite movie. However, the snake they rented is killed while filming, so the team decides to venture deeper into the jungle to find a bigger snake... A terrible, terrible idea.

Love zombies, well, so do we, and 2026 is kicking off with one of the most exciting new movies featuring the undead. Following on from the events of 28 Years Later, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will be the next outing in the iconic franchise. Currently, we don't know a lot about the plot just yet; however, a new trailer has been released, and we can tell you that the flick looks action-packed.

Return to Silent Hill

Personally, I love playing the best Silent Hill games, however, a lot of the past Silent Hill movies haven't managed to blow me away. But maybe Return to Silent Hill can change my mind about on-screen adaptations for one of my favorite games. Following Silent Hill 2's story around James coming to the titular town after receiving a letter, the upcoming horror movie is going for psychological thrills. Hopefully, we get to see Pyramid Head as well.

Scream 7

Scream 7 has had a very bumpy road; however, it's finally coming out in early 2026. While we won't see a lot of the main cast featured in Scream 5 or Scream 6, we do know that legacy stars Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox are returning. Kevin Williamson, who also worked on the original Scream, Scream 3, Scream 4, and executive-produced the last two movies in the franchise, is also directing. So we have high hopes that the new slasher will be a good one, folks.

Project Hail Mary

Ryan Gosling stars in this adaptation of the Andy Weir novel of the same name, which follows a middle school teacher who just so happens to have a doctorate in molecular biology and becomes the reluctant member of a crew who is tasked with figuring out why the sun is dying. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller from a screenplay adapted by Drew Goddard, the film's cast also includes Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce and Ken Leung. In the first trailer for Project Hail Mary we can see what to expect of the upcoming sci-fi, including Gosling's character meeting an alien that seems super friendly...

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Announced during a 2025 Nintendo Direct live stream, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the upcoming animated sequel to the 2023 The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and we are very excited to see this one. Not only is it adapting one of the best Mario games ever made, but the A-list main cast from the first flick is returning as well. Hopefully, we get a trailer soon, but for now, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is top of our list for our most anticipated upcoming video game movies releasing in 2026.

The Mummy

OK, so let's all forget that the awful 2017 Mummy movie was a thing and instead get excited that we have a new reboot in the works. According to Deadline, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are in talks to reprise their roles from the iconic late '90s and early 2000s movies that have since become cult classics. We still don't have any plot details yet, but we loved the original Mummy movies that saw the two stars facing off against Imhotep. Stay tuned as we track all the latest news and updates for this one.

Mortal Kombat 2

The sequel to the 2021 movie, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 is an upcoming movie based on the iconic fighting video game franchise of the same name. The film has had a few release date changes, having originally been slated for 2025 before being moved to May 15, 2026, and then pushed up slightly to May 8. However, if you love grand action set pieces, you'll probably still be excited about catching this one on the big screen.

The Mandalorian & Grogu

It's been a while since we got a new Star Wars movie, however, 2026 is here to answer all you young Jedi's prayers. The Mandalorian & Grogu follows Din Djarin and Grogu being enlisted by the New Republic to deal with some warlords who are looking to take advantage of the uncertainty following the fall of the Galactic Empire. We've been waiting for this film since 2024, so yeah, 2026 can't come soon enough.

Masters of the Universe

He-Man and Skeletor are getting a brand new movie, folks. Based on Mattel's famous franchise, Masters of the Universe will follow the adventures of Prince Adam (aka He-Man) as he fights to save his home planet, Eternia. Jared Leto is set to play Skeletor, and Nicholas Galitzine will be taking on the leading role as Prince Adam. Idris Elba, Alison Brie, Camila Mendes, and Kristen Wiig are also set to star.

Supergirl

The new DCU timeline is now in full swing following the release of James Gunn's Superman in 2025, and the next big film in the DCU: Chapter One plan is none other than Supergirl. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the upcoming movie features Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, who decides to celebrate her 21st birthday by travelling across the galaxy with her dog Krypto. Obviously, her plans go wrong in some kind of way, though, so don't expect a fun superhero road trip movie without any fights.

The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan is back on the big screen in 2026 with his highly anticipated adaptation of The Odyssey, and the scale of the production is epic. The film boasts a star-studded cast, with Matt Damon leading as Odysseus and Tom Holland playing his son Telemachus alongside Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth, and more. Holland promised that the film will "be unlike anything we've ever seen," so this could easily become one of the best Christopher Nolan movies.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Marvel Phase 6 is officially underway, and before we get into the first new Avengers movie, our favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will be swinging onto the big screen. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see Tom Holland return as Peter Parker. Currently, we don't know the plot for this one; however, we are pretty certain it will give us some cliffhangers to keep us hooked until Avengers: Doomsday comes out later in the year. Insidious 6

Good news, horror fans, we are getting a new Insidious movie with the upcoming spooky flick Insidious 6. Unfortunately, the plot for this one is being kept under tight lock and key. But we do know that Lin Shaye is back as Elise Rainier and that filming on the project recently wrapped as well. So it's only a matter of time before a trailer and more story details drop. Keep your eyes on this page as we'll update you as soon as we know more.

Clayface

One of the upcoming DC movies scheduled for 2026 is Clayface, and fans of body horror will want to pay attention. With a script written my horror hit Mike Flanagan, and helmed by Woman in Black director James Watkins, it seems like we'll be getting the spookiest superhero movie around as we follow the story of a disfigured actor turning his body into clay. Very exciting stuff, and with such a strong team, we are expecting big things from this future flick.

Street Fighter Movie

We've had plenty of Street Fighter movies already come our way over the years. Some have been good, some have been bad. And, hopefully the upcoming 2026 Street Fighter Movie is one of the good ones. Bad Trip's Kitao Sakurai is set to direct the flick, and so far, its story is seemingly taking inspiration from the game Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. The cast is filled with stars and is massive, featuring the likes of Jason Momoa and 50 Cent. Fingers crossed we get a fun flick!

Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday is the first out of the two planned Avengers movies that are pretty much Marvel Phase 6's big ticket items. Doctor Doom is the new big bad, and he is being played by none other than Tony Stark actor Robert Downey Jr. Currently, the plot is being kept under wraps, but we do know that it will have a stacked cast. As more details come our way, we'll keep you posted. But regardless, Marvel fans will want to mark their calendars for this new film.

Dune: Part Three

Release date: December 18, 2026

The final part of Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic is releasing at the end of 2026, and we couldn't be more excited about it. Dune: Part Three will bring us back to the grand space opera and see Paul Atreides return. Currently, we aren't 100% sure how Villeneuve plans to adapt the next part of Herbert's novel since there is a 12-year gap from the events of Dune: Part Two to deal with. Hopefully, we get a trailer soon so we have a clearer idea.
