The first trailer for Insidious: Out of the Further has arrived, and it looks to be offering up an intriguing new spin on the long-running horror franchise.
In the brief clip, which was unveiled as part of CinemaCon 2026, we meet Gemma (The Haunting of Bly Manor's Amelia Eve), as she learns she can break into the titular spirit-filled realm. "When something evil comes after her, Gemma discovers an ability that changes everything: she doesn't just enter The Further, she can bring what lives there back to the real world. Once the demons realise her power, our world becomes their playground," the official synopsis continues. Watch the promo above..
The sequel, which was first teased at New York City Comic Con back in October 2025, also stars Brandon Perea, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Sam Spruell, Island Austin, and Laura Gordon, with Lin Shaye returning as franchise lead psychic Elise Rainier. Jacob Chase (Come Play) directs from a screenplay he penned himself.
Article continues belowThe franchise launched in 2010, with James Wan directing the first two films that concern a family (consisting of Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne) who are haunted by demons who exist in a forbidden astral plane known as The Further. Leigh Whannell took over directorial duties for Insidious: Chapter 3, with Adam Robitel (The Taking of Debra Logan) helming Insidious: The Last Key, and Wilson making his feature directorial debut with Insidious: The Red Door.
We still don't exactly know why Insidious: The Further You Fear, a live, interactive horror show that was set to tour around the United States was cancelled, but it's possible that the success of Insidious 6 will reignite interest in the franchise and bring the show back.
Insidious: Out of the Further is set to hit theaters on August 21. For more scares, check out our guides to all of the upcoming horror movies on the way and our round-up of the best horror movies of all time.
