The Content

Another dead week for game releases mean we're trapped in the past, discussing the games of 2011 while feverishly defending the internet from SOPA and PIPA. Speaking of which, they're dead for now, so good work, web! Of course we went over the Top 7, which this week focused on maps that do more than just tell you where to go.

But while you're here, you should know that we're going to be having a meet-up next week in San Francisco! Swing over to the official article for more information.

In the Community

The question of the week was "What games are you looking forward to in 2012?" and there are a ton of answers on the forum There was some nice fan art this week, including some nice full-color images and interesting comics. Oh, how we love you guys. It's in the gallery below, which you can see larger versions of by pressing the + on the top right, or even larger versions of by checking out the official fan art thread, here.

But that's. Not. All. Listen close this week for a chance to win Turtle Beach headsets! Contest deadline is 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012. You can read our official contest rules here. US and Canada residents only, please. (Our apologies to readers from other countries.)

My favorite sound in video games is the shy guy sound. The sound he makes when he hits the ball in mario tennis is hilarious. Bwaa, bwaa, bwant bwaa.

Ain't no rest for the wicked - Cage the elephant from the intro Borderlands.

Its a little to easy to mention this one and its probably not even technically right for the competion.

But for me this song with that scene had the same effect as Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood and the Destroyers had on Terminator 2.

Weeeelllllllllll that....and The Broken turrents Portal 2.

My favourite game sound is the sound of the bodacious bovine in Conker's Bad Fur Day when she lets loose her bowels of fury and shits all over the floor. Oh yeah, baby, pour that shit out. Just let it flow. Unhhhhh. Shit. SHIIIIIIIIT.

The sound of Entei when he would appear in the grass.

The satisfaction and terror that went with that sound was too exciting! OMG OMG it's an epic dog who is a metal faced bad-ass that runs like a demon through all the Pokemon land and I...a young, poor, underprivileged orphan trainer have stumbled upon the power and awesomeness of ENTEI?!?!

    Best sound ever.

My favorite sound is the epic electronic Battlefield music that plays when your team wins a round in Battlefield 3. It just reinforces the accomplishment 10 fold!

My favorite sound is from Crysis 2 when you go into the cloak ability, just sounds so cool.

Other favorites are the entire BF3 game, dice just knows what a war game should sound like.

Classic game is when you bungie jump out of Mt Rushmore presidents nose and the song at the end for Sam & Max: Hit the Road.

My favorite game sound is the pop, then YAY! when you headshot a Grunt in Halo 3. It's used again in ODST, Halo Reach in MP, and is the last damn skull you find in Halo CE Anniversary.

I thought about it for a bit. I keep coming back to the noise when mario goes down a warp pipe. To me it signifies tons of things. Mostly it signifies that you've discovered something. The best part about games.

My favorite video game sound is "WHAT" that Alucard says when getting turned to stone in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Honestly man, I'm sure growing up you bumped into a medusa head before, don't act like it's a new thing.

My favorite video game sound would have to be the opening soundtrack (in the menu) of the Halo: Combat Evolved. Brings me back to the young teen years...
